Magnolia Liliflora ‘Nigra’

With its upright, bushy habit, Magnolia liliiflora ‘Nigra’ is a compact variety that is well suited to smaller gardens. Flowering from late spring, the narrow, tulip-shaped flowers are deep reddish-purple with paler pink interiors. The deciduous, dark green foliage makes a handsome backdrop for its dramatic blooms, which continue sporadically right through to autumn. Magnolia liliiflora ‘Nigra’ makes a lovely specimen shrub for woodland edges, cottage gardens and low maintenance planting schemes.
